What we offer
Our programmes
From a single afternoon workshop to a three-month residency, Crone Institute offers immersive creative programmes across visual arts, music, dance, and nature. Four core disciplines, one living campus.
01
Visual Arts
The language of line, colour, and form
Our visual arts programme spans painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture. Studios are open from dawn to dusk, and participants work alongside resident artists whose practices range from the intimate to the monumental.
Disciplines
- Oil, watercolour, and mixed media painting
- Etching, linocut, and screen printing
- Hand-building and wheel-thrown ceramics
- Botanical and observational drawing
- Critique sessions with resident artists
- End-of-residency group exhibition
02
Music
Sound as a living, breathing thing
Our music programme embraces composition, improvisation, and performance across classical, folk, and experimental traditions. Participants work in our purpose-built acoustic studios and perform in the open-air amphitheatre at the forest edge.

- Access to grand piano, recording suite, and instrument library
- Public concert at programme close
03
Dance
The body as the first instrument
Our dance programme draws from contemporary, somatic, and folk traditions. Morning sessions begin outdoors — barefoot on grass or forest floor — before moving into the sprung-floor studio for technique, improvisation, and collaborative choreography.
Disciplines
- Contemporary and release technique
- Somatic and body-awareness practices
- Folk and traditional movement forms
- Contact improvisation and partnering
- Outdoor and site-specific performance
- Collaborative choreography project
04
Nature Immersion
The earth as studio, teacher, and muse
Our nature immersion programme weaves ecology, mindfulness, and creative practice into a single experience. Participants spend time in the woodland, wetland, and meadow habitats of our 40-acre campus — drawing, listening, moving, and writing in direct response to the living world.
Disciplines
- Forest bathing and sensory awareness walks
- Botanical illustration and nature journaling
- Soundscape recording in natural habitats
- Ecology and seasonal awareness sessions
- Land art and site-responsive installation
- Guided night walks and star observation
